Comfort Zone

Sometimes, the unsaid warmth feeling inside your heart is being home for the whole day, sleeping in your bed, waking up to read a book whilst listening to oldies songs such as The Beatles & Frank Sinatra. To be honest, they're not my favorites but oldies songs are that good. And then here I am, typing up on my blog so a new one will be posted.

I remembered on that day last year in Seoul, South Korea,we separated ourselves from the tour and went to Hongdae--an area famous for the cheap Korean barbeque because it was an area for university students. And damn it was one of the best barbeques I've had in my whole life. It was fairly cheap and satisfying. Then after our lunch, we went to Cheonggyecheon to take some pictures.

Socks - Sox Galeri

Bracelets - H&M, Accessorize

If you haven't noticed, I love to wear double volume of clothing. Very loose both on top and bottom. And this is one of the examples. Oline Workrobe and Cotton Ink are both Indonesian brands who produce loose garments with fabulous designs. They're not similar, they have their own characteristics but we can always make many different brands work together. For what I've examined, while Oline Workrobe has more intricate sides (like the detail on the collar of this top), Cotton Ink is the perfect stock for basic items (neutral-coloured A-line skirt). And them together, makes one of my most favorite outfits I've pulled out during my vacation to South Korea last summer. This is the last batch of outfit photographs from SK edition (and everybody pukes). I can't even tell where I got that phrase from. SK edition, really?

Til next post.

The Eyes, The Lips & The Ears

I want steak.

But I bet none of you would remember that by the end of the post. It's like you're reading but you don't want to understand. It's like you're hearing, but you're not really listening to what others have to say. Not that 'I want steak' is an important, live or death statement.

It's just an example. Because lately, I come to realise how little people would listen and how much they would talk. You can find a few listeners amongst groups because (almost) everybody wants to talk, (almost) everybody wants to be the centre of attention.

The realisation came to mind when I wanted to talk about something (unimportant) to someone. You know, because you do talk about unimportant stuff. Midway through my story, that someone just didn't bother to listen anymore. And I thought, how many times did I listen to every story this person said? Countless. I always listened and always gave comments when asked no matter the quality of the scoops. And I did that not because I wanted this person to do the same thing for me, it was because I cared enough to listen even if the stories didn't have anything to do with me. So I also stopped and didn't even try to continue my story because I knew how little this person's interest in hearing my (again, unimportant) story. And because I didn't want to push someone to listen to me if they didn't want to.

Then somehow out of nowhere a quote from my all-time-favorite movie just popped to my head; "Maybe you were looking, but you weren't really seeing." Same applied to the ears; maybe you were hearing, but you weren't really listening. Also, another quote from a book that I currently read that kind of implied the same meaning; "...the difference between interesting versus interested. I don't think there's anything wrong about trying to be interesting, but I think it's more admirable by far to be interested. For one thing, being interested makes you smarter. You will learn things by being interested. And, in addition to that, being interested gives the people you are talking to the feeling that they are important and that you care about them. It bolsters their self-esteem and makes them stronger..." (Eugene Salomon).

That's why I have this blog. I can write whatever I want and people could read it if they want to, or if they want to skip to the pictures, it's up to them. By writing this post, I could probably influence one or two people to be a better listener, and to plant it deeper to my brain that one does not always need to be heard. Sometimes a story might be better if kept to oneself anyway.

Speaking of, the lady in Sunglass Hut shop in LA told me when I visited to buy a pair of new Rayban to hold on to these sunnies since they're very hard to get now. Well, my plan was to never let go in the first place. I was pretty much hypnotised by the iconic Prada swirl on the sides. So yeah.

'Til next post.

Grandmotherly Love

Since my grandmother (from mom's side) had her birthday just a few days ago, I would like to make a post for her (consisting my pictures................... *awkwaaarrddd*). Okay, so. I would like to thank God for the existence of such a wonderful person like my grandmother; a hardworking, loving, and caring person. I want to cry cause I miss her right now (apparently I miss everybody at home lately). My mom told her children (one of them is moi) she wouldn't be the person she is today if it wasn't for her mother a.k.a my grandmother. She told stories about how strong and hardworking my grandma is (and the genes are passed through the generations *wink wink*). The ethics and disciplines that she taught my mom, were also given to me.

One of the stories my mom told me about my grandma that I could not forget is her generosity. Because she lives in the countryside, four-five hours ride from my hometown, getting all sorts of daily consumptions from local markets (instead of supermarkets) is very normal. And since she is very concern about the products that were consumed by us in the big city are not as healthy as the ones she could obtain from the village, so she continually sends us raw food like free range chickens and eggs (she's so cute, right?) But she doesn't only buy them from the markets. Sometimes, when there were children who sold one or two eggs to her (door to door method), she would buy them because she wants to help the kids (the kids got the eggs from their pets, the chickens... quite a long story?) So she collected all these eggs, adding two by two, things like that, and when she got a bucket full of free range eggs, she sent them to my family.

It's a simple story but very touching for me. Because it doesn't just teach me about care, but also about patience, about giving, and in one way or another, about saving up. I love you, Grandma :)

Sibs and Shops

Hi guys, my deadline is a week away and I'm trying to post something between now and then aight? Aight. That's how dedicated I am *erm erm erm ERM ERM...exaggerated coughs* And since right now I'm missing some sun and heat (which doesn't happen quite often...or maybe, quite often) I'm gonna post the outfit pictures from last summer in South Korea because the series haven't ended ;)

Anyhoolaroo, a few days ago my bro just bbmed me to chat and I realized catching up with lilbro is one of the best things ever. Especially when he is not in "I'm too cool to talk to my sister" mood. A little story about siblings, and some of you would probably feel this too. Sometimes siblings could annoy the shit outta you, and you get irritated and stuff, but at the end of the day, they're one of those people who have your back. I love my siblings to the moon and back and I'm missing them right now.

So so so so what to say about this look? Too pinky? Too girly? It's a look I usually donned in summer. A top tucked in a high waist skirt, or shorts. I always go back once in a while to Oasis because sometimes they have quite interesting range of prints going on in their store, but haven't found another one that caught my eye like this one. But anyways, I should really get shopping outta my mind (impossible). I have just window shopped on ASOS, to clear my mind. Window shopping is a mood booster :D Because, ya know, shopping resulting to breaking the bank and that can't boost anyone's mood. Window shopping is safer (says the girl who shops ahlll tha thime).

Ciao.

14 Hours

The amount of sleep I had last night. What a great one hahaha... I'm such a pig.

Top - Danjyo Hiyoji
Skorts - Forever 21
Bag - Prada Saffiano
Shoes - Office

These were when I was in Seoul last summer holiday, taken in Hanok Village and Insadong. I kind of love Seoul with its rich culture and modernized city. They have quite a lot of areas to look at and each area was beautiful in its own way, in its own shops way, if you get what I mean. Shopping in Seoul was like "I wanted to get them ALL, like, like, ALL of them!" Seriously, if you were in a shop, for example, you must've picked one section to look at because that was your favorite one, and because you've seen the other sections and you were disappointed. Not in this city. Almost everything attracted my eyes.

The top that I wore was from one of my favorite local Indonesian brands, Danjyo Hiyoji. This circular patterned top was one of my favorites in my wardrobe too. It didn't flatter my body quite well because of its unique shape and cut but I still love the creativity poured into it. The shoes were from Office that I bought the day before my flight back to Indonesia and I think I've been wanting a teal/turquoise flats for a long time and because this one was similar to oxford shoes which by far my most favorite shoe model, they were in my hands then on my feet. I know the electric colour didn't quite match the pastel tones on the upper side, but I was fine with this clish-clashing sort of combination to make the pastels didn't look really boring. I wore these hurtful flats for my holiday. They killed my feet, okay, but I still love them.

Ciao.

Holy Days

You know, now that I don't have classes and assignments (oops, I do now, kind of a homework for the winter break) I've been slacking off all day. Didn't go out before 12pm even though I know there are a lot to be explored here in London. Sleeping like a pig. Eating like a pig. I'm a pig. Figuratively, of course.

Good thing my trips are on soon. Everything was planned out, unlike last spring break when my friends and I were too lazy to book tickets and hotel rooms for getaways. Hahaha... But this time I will enjoy the sights of England (before New Year) and Northern Ireland (after New Year). So I'm hoping the journeys will be safe and fun and I will definitely bring back a lot of pictures.

For now, just a few pictures from last August :)

Tank top - Sister's, thrifted from Melbourne
Outerwear - Cotton Ink
Pants - Forever 21
Flats - Office
Bag - Prada
Necklace and bangle - H&M

I know that those colours combined together seemed a little bit off, but nowadays I really like this kind of awkwardness between clothing. Whether it was an awkward length, awkward colour, awkward model, all made a good sense to me.

Sometimes you don't have to play by the rules. But then again, fashion doesn't really have rules.

Ciao.
